Swaddle blankets are essential to help baby feel safe and secure when sleeping in their own sleep surface. I love these affordable and easy to use velcro swaddles for the first 2 months of life.
Constant white noise helps soothe babies who are used to hearing many noises from the mother's body while in utero. It also helps block out other background noise that may wake a sleeping baby. This noise maker doubles as a bluetooth speaker and is rechargeable and portable!
The AAP recommends babies sleep on a flat surface from birth. This is a great portable option you can take with you!
The Pack 'N Play play yard without the top changer and napper attachments makes a great landing pad for baby. It is a safe place for them to lay, sleep and be changed for much longer than smaller devices. It is portable and can be used for years as a play yard. You will get much more use out of this than a traditional bassinet which they will grow out of in a few months. I recommend a Pack 'N Play for each floor of your house where baby will be.
A structured carrier is a must-have for baby. I am partial to the Ergo because of the great storage pockets. These allow baby to be close to parent and parent to be hands free!
In addition to an electric breast pump, a hand pump is super convenient for on-the-go, to relieve engorgement, and simple quick expression.
a firm nursing pillow is essential to support baby while breastfeeding. this one clips on so doesn't shift around.
For items like diapers, onesies, burp cloths etc. it really comes down to personal opinion and what works best for you. Try out different kinds and see what you like best. It's nice to have hand-me-downs that you can try out and then decide to get more of things that work for you.
