what is a postpartum doula?
**postpartum doulas work with familyduring first 12 weeks/3 months after childbirth. i work in 4 hour shifts. there could be one visit or two per week up to 3 months depending on the family's needs.
**we provide evidence-based support with newborn care as well as physical and emotional recovery from childbirth.
**this support includes education and assistance with newborn care such as holding, feeding, soothing, diapering and sleep routines.
**we also help with household duties such as meal preparation, dishes, laundry, sibling care and other daily tasks that we can relieve the parents from.
**we are not medically trained, so do not perform medical tasks or give medical advice. we are however, able to provide references for various resources in the community that a family may need including medical professionals and parent support groups.
**i offer a pre-baby consultation to help with household organization, registry and equipment information and a baby prep list.
**i also offer a one time 4-hour crash course on baby care after baby has arrived.
both of these are available on a sliding scale.
**we will tailor our schedule to your unique family situation, schedule and budget.
**i understand that life with a new baby can be very unpredictable. needs change daily and weekly. i will be as flexible as i can.
**feel free to contact me with any questions.
**every family needs extra support during the first weeks after the birth of a new baby!
